Philosophy 

Staete Landt is quite unique in its approach of producing single vineyard estate grown wines only. The wines are based on the soil profiles of the 24 different parcels of land within the estate. In reality we have 24 single vineyards, each one providing the eventual wine with a distinct flavour and textural component.

Retaining the individuality of each of these parcels within our estate is vital to our viticultural practises. We know that taking one little step in the vineyard may not make a huge difference to the ensuing wine – but when you undertake a lot of little steps the results are momentous.

Hence we have 17 separate irrigation blocks and we deal with the different ripening characteristics with careful individual canopy management practises. We undertake strict pruning regimes and bunch thin regularly during the summer months to ensure the smaller yields ripen to perfection.
