We knew our block of land was something special – but we wanted to know just how special before we began the hard task of planting the vineyard.

So while the trees were still bearing fruit, Ruud with expert assistance from internationally renowned soil scientist Keith Vincent, took samples from dozens of sites within the estate. We wanted to define exactly what the soil composition was before we began considering what varieties, clones and rootstock to plant.

This important research provided us with in-depth analysis of the entire vineyard.
