The 2009 Staete Landt sauvignon blanc is intensely aromatic with rose petals, orangeblossom and tropical fruit characters. In the mouth a soft velvety texture with abundant nectarines and crisp granny smiths, chalky/slaty characters and a round and elegant mineral finish.
This wine is drinking well from now onwards but will increase in complexity and reward cellaring for up to 5 years.

Staete Landt Chardonnay is one of the best kept secrets of the Estate: full and round yet stylish, great texture and length, this wine shows the perfect balance between fruit, acidity and elegant oak integration.
A whiff of sea breeze and summer stone fruit on the nose, white peaches & cream, hazelnuts on the palate with a mineral aftertaste that lingers on. A truly great wine with a strong personality and a European elegance, showing the unique cool climate Marlborough vibrance.

The 2008 Pinot Noir is a beautiful round and well textured wine with a fragrance of ripe cherries, wild violets and ‘forrest floor on an early autumn day’. In the mouth the wine is weighty with black tea tannins, shows great length and beautiful balance between sweet ripe berrie fruit and more savoury characters such as ‘leather saddles’ and barnyard characteristics which will develop over time in the bottle.
A very attractive wine, lots of ‘pinosity’ and a fabulous companion with food.

This wine is a lovely example of what the varietal can show. It is full round and ripe in the mouth with a grainy texture and soft nutty complexity showing notes of quince and ripe pears. It has excellent length and roundness of flavour. This wine is very approachable whilst young but will gain complexity over the next five years.

This wine offers classic Riesling characters of sweet lemon and citrus zest on the nose, followed by floral honeysuckle and vanilla notes and an early nuance of kerosene. The palate is silky with grapefruit and lemon flavours, mineral notes and a pleasing spicyness. Limey acidity contributes to the tight structure and fresh lingering finish.

This wine is delicately scented of pink grapefruit, heritage apples and guava fruit. The elegant nose gives way to a richly texured palate of ripe apples, manuka honey and caramel characters; all evocative of tart tatin. Lifted acidity balances the wine beautifully for a lingering fresh finish. The Riesling Auslese is attractive whilst young but will gain complexity and benefit from aging for up to 10 years.

White peach, sweet mandarin and a touch of guava fill the nose with soft background notes of toasted coconut and vanilla cream. The palate has a firm oily mouth feel, with grapefruit and rose petal characters, toasty oak and a dash of sweet nectarines. The Staete Landt Viognier combines aromatics and texture for an opulent and full bodied white wine.

The 2008 Staete Landt Syrah is the second Syrah produced by the vineyard. It expresses the unique terroir of the old stony riverbed site beautifully. The wine has an attractive nose of ripe black cherries and blackberries. On the palate this wine shows white pepper, dark ripe plums and bay leaf liquorice. A well balanced, complex and sophisticated typical cool climate style Syrah, with excellent structure and elegant tannins. This wine is drinking very well now but will repay cellaring for at least three to five years.
